Browse CollectionsLaminate flooring delivers a realistic wood look at a sensible price. A tough, photographic wear layer over a dense core gives excellent scratch and dent resistance, quick click installation and simple cleaning, ideal value for whole-home projects.
Rooms in a Newport terrace are deeper than they are wide, so boards laid lengthways settle them; Engineered Oak Wide Plank earns its place in a home you mean to keep. In a let, a click floor specified for its wear layer is the more honest spend.
Today’s laminates look and feel remarkably close to real wood, with deep embossing and matt finishes, and many ranges are water-resistant too. An Alway block floor is concrete cast between flats, with no outside air moving beneath it, so the moisture a plank meets rises from inside the flat: showers, cooking, washing dried on an airer, all of it peaking in the shut-window months.
Terraces and semis run neck and neck across Newport, a legacy of the docks and steel years, with detached homes a smaller share. Over a third of the stock is rented, split between social and private landlords. Under the terraced ground floors is suspended timber that wants levelling before anything goes down. Against that backdrop, laminate flooring is the natural fit for bedrooms, living rooms and whole-home fits.
Every home is different, but clear patterns run through the Newport projects we supply:
Long, narrow terraced rooms: The terraces that came with Newport docks and steel give you rooms far longer than they are wide, and a broad plank in a room that shape leaves a mean strip against the far wall. Set engineered wood out from the middle so both cuts match.
Ground floors in Caerleon: Caerleon is older again than the rest of Newport, and the older the house the more its ground floor has moved since it was laid. Level it once and thoroughly; after that engineered oak can stay where it is for as long as the room lasts.
Homes let across NP19 and NP20: Rented homes make up a larger slice of Newport than of most Welsh towns, between social landlords and private ones. In a let it is the joint and the wear layer that decide how the floor hands back, not the grain printed on it, and that argues for LVT.
Hallways: In a Newport terrace the hall is a corridor the whole house passes through, from the front door to the kitchen at the back. SPC stands up to that traffic without the swelling a timber board risks where wet coats drip against the wall.
Laminate Flooring · In a Newport terrace, laminate can go down fast and cheaply, but the old timber beneath will show every dip through it, so level the base before you lay.
We deliver across Newport and South Wales (NP postcodes) from our UK warehouse. Most in-stock orders arrive within a timeframe that depends on the delivery postcode.
Orders for laminate flooring head out to Maindee, Caerleon and Bettws and the NP postcode area, and everywhere in between. The safest first step is a sample order to your Newport home: a few boards on your own floor, in your own light, tell you more than any photo.
Bestsellers our customers order again and again. Samples available for every floor.
