Browse CollectionsConstruction decides this, not appearance. What works over a heated screed, what does not, and how to bring a new floor up to temperature.
Two floors can look identical and only one can go over a heated screed. It is decided by how the board is built.
Heat has to travel from the screed into the room, and everything between the two slows it down.
Glue down puts the board in direct contact with the heated surface and performs best. A floating floor sits over an underlay, which is an insulating layer by design, so a thick acoustic underlay chosen for comfort can undo a good heating system.
This order is not optional, and getting it wrong is where most underfloor heating failures begin.
A heated room is a drier room, and wood responds to that.
