Homes & Floors goes racing: our colours on the track

Homes & Floors was proudly on the silks at the races, with jockey Paddy Bradley in the saddle for Newmarket trainer Charlie Fellowes, and the horse gave us plenty to smile about: a well-behaved, strong-finishing run and a positive report from the saddle.

Race day report

Homes & Floors on the silks

There is nothing quite like race day. The quiet of the parade ring, the colour of the silks, the moment the field heads to post. This time, the Homes & Floors name was right in the middle of it, carried onto the track on the jockey’s silks for all to see. For a British flooring brand built on craftsmanship and quality, it was a genuinely proud moment, and a natural fit. Racing rewards the same things we care about every day: preparation, attention to detail, and performance when it counts.

Our colours were front and centre from the parade ring through to the final furlong. Sponsoring a day at the races is about more than a logo on a set of silks. It is about standing behind British sport, supporting the people and animals who dedicate themselves to it, and being part of a community that values doing things properly. And as first outings go, this one gave us every reason to smile.

A strong run, and a positive report from the saddle

After the race, jockey Paddy Bradley, a well-known name in the racing world, gave a very positive assessment of the run for leading Newmarket trainer Charlie Fellowes. He explained that the horse behaved well, jumped cleanly and followed the pace professionally. Although the ground was very quick and did not fully suit her, she finished the race strongly without being pushed too hard, exactly the kind of sensible, promising first run every connection hopes to see.

Very well behaved. Jumped well, tracked her across just to follow the pace and teach her something. She was doing her best work at the end without being knocked around.

Bradley also noted that a little more cut in the ground would likely help, and that seven furlongs looks to be a suitable distance for her. With this experience behind her, he believes she can strengthen up and come back well in her next run for the Fellowes yard.

The connections

In the saddle: Paddy Bradley, a familiar face on British racecourses. Behind the preparation: Charlie Fellowes, the leading trainer at his Newmarket yard.

What the run tells us

Read between the lines and there is plenty to be encouraged by. Handling quick ground on debut while still doing her best work late is a good sign of both temperament and stamina. The suggestion that a little give in the ground would suit points to even better performances when conditions come right. And settling on seven furlongs as her trip gives her connections a clear plan to work towards. For a young horse learning her craft, a calm, honest and progressive first run is worth far more than a flashy one, and that is precisely what she delivered in the Homes & Floors colours.

Our colours were carried on the jockey’s silks throughout the race, part of our commitment to backing British sport as we grow.

Why a flooring company backs British racing

It is a fair question: what does a flooring specialist have to do with horse racing? More than you might think. Both are, at heart, about British craft and performance under pressure. A racehorse is the product of patient preparation, careful conditioning and a team that sweats the small details. A premium floor is no different. The quality you feel underfoot is the result of the same disciplines: the right materials, honest workmanship and a refusal to cut corners.

Supporting racing is a way of putting our name behind values we genuinely share. It also reflects where we are as a business, growing, ambitious and proud to be British. As we invest in our own bespoke, UK-made collections, backing British sport feels like a natural extension of that story.

British through and through

From our bespoke oak collection to the sport we back, we are proud to fly the flag for British craft.

Built to perform

Racing rewards preparation and detail. So does a floor that has to look and last its best for years.

In it for the long run

We are backing this horse, and this sport, for the journey, just as we stand behind every floor we supply.

The same standards, from the track to your floor

The pride we felt seeing our colours on the track is the same pride we put into every order that leaves us. Homes & Floors supplies premium engineered oak, herringbone and parquet, laminate, luxury vinyl and porcelain tiles to homes across the UK, all chosen and finished to a standard we are happy to put our name to. Our bespoke, British-made engineered oak collection takes that further, letting you compose your own floor by pattern, colour and format, then have it made to order in the UK.

Whether you are renovating a period home or fitting out a new build, the principle is the same as it is on race day: get the details right and the result speaks for itself. And because no screen truly shows you real oak, you can always start with a sample and see it in your own light before you commit.

What’s next

For the horse, the plan is clear: strengthen up, wait for a touch more give in the ground and come back over seven furlongs ready to build on a promising start. For Homes & Floors, this is just the beginning of our support for British racing, and a story we are excited to keep following. We will share updates as the season unfolds, so keep an eye on our journal for the next chapter.
