The smoked tone is warmer than a grey and lighter than the coffee boards, and the Rustic grade carries the knots and variation the name suggests.

UV oil is a factory-cured oil: it looks like an oiled floor and it is maintained like one, with local re-oiling where a doorway or a kitchen has worn it, using the manufacturer's maintenance oil. Brushing hides the fine scratches that grit leaves. The board is tongue and groove with a micro-bevelled edge, listed as compatible with underfloor heating, and a box covers 1.8 square metres; the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.

It suits a cottage or a Victorian terrace, where a narrow board matches the joinery and a Rustic grade matches the house. The Ascot Coffee and Whisky boards are the darker, matt lacquered neighbours in the same format; the Cobham Twilight Timber board carries a similar depth at 150 mm with the same UV oil.
