The pigment counters the amber tone a plain oil gives and settles into the grain, so the figure shows as fine pale lines on a chalky ground; the smooth surface makes it the cleanest, most modern of the pale boards.

White oil is maintained with the manufacturer's white maintenance oil, not a clear one, which would darken the patch it touched; a worn area is re-oiled on its own. A smooth pale floor shows dark marks more than a brushed one, so it belongs in living rooms and bedrooms with felt pads under the furniture. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, listed as compatible with underfloor heating; a box of eight boards covers 2.888 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.
