Browse CollectionsLuxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) is water-resistant right through the plank, warm underfoot and exceptionally hard-wearing. Modern LVT convincingly mimics real wood or stone while shrugging off spills, scratches and heavy footfall, and it is quiet and comfortable to walk on.
Once the designation is cleared, engineered oak suits the older streets of SG4 and SG5, sitting over joists with less movement than solid board. Social renting runs above the county norm, and in those homes a floor that lifts again between tenancies makes more sense.
It is the smart choice wherever moisture and traffic are a factor, and clicks together quickly for a clean, seamless finish. Above the ground floor of an SG5 block the slab underfoot has a heated home beneath it rather than earth: room temperature year round, and no ground damp for a meter to find.
Semis, terraces and detached houses come in at roughly equal shares here, spread across Bearton, Highbury, Oughton and Priory. What sets Hitchin apart is the size of its older core: in a listed building or a conservation area the original boards are not simply yours to lift, so confirm the designation before choosing anything. For exactly these properties, lvt vinyl flooring comes into its own in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and busy family spaces.
Every home is different, but clear patterns run through the Hitchin projects we supply:
Socially rented homes: Social renting is high in Hitchin for a North Hertfordshire town, and a floor in a rented home has to answer to the landlord as much as to the household. LVT or a tough laminate lifts cleanly at the end of a tenancy.
Rooms in the old core: Hitchin has a substantial older core around Bearton, Highbury and Oughton, and in a listed building or a conservation area the original boards are not simply yours to lift. Confirm the designation first; where it allows, engineered wood can float above them and leave them in place.
Kitchens: Whether a Hitchin kitchen stands on joists or on a slab settles the underlay before it settles the floor. Over old boards in Oughton or Walsworth engineered wood tolerates the movement, while a modern base holds porcelain tiles without complaint.
Living rooms: Owner-occupiers and social tenants together account for most of Hitchin, and the living room is where that difference shows up in the budget rather than in the room itself. The long stay argues for engineered oak; a home that may change hands sooner argues for laminate.
LVT Vinyl Click-Lock · Vinyl click-lock planks lay over joisted or solid bases alike, wipe clean, and come up again later without disturbing what sits underneath.
