Houses take close to nine in ten of the stock across B77, B78 and B79, so a floor going into Bolehall or Wilnecote answers to the building and to the household, and to nothing else. No ceiling below it, no lease clause above it, no acoustic layer somebody else has specified.
Two kinds of floor share the same B postcodes. The estates that went up under the town development agreement, taking Birmingham overspill from the nineteen-sixties, usually sit on concrete; the medieval core around the castle does not. More homes here are semi-detached than anything else, detached come next, and most households own.
Solid ground floors take a click-fitted floor without much build-up, which is why LVT Vinyl Click-Lock works across the estates. Nearer the castle, where levelling boards rather than a slab is the job, engineered oak repays the extra preparation.
Wide oak boards suit the roomier semi-detached and detached houses that make up most of Tamworth’s stock, and they can be glued down over a solid base.
Shop rangeClick-fitted LVT adds barely any height, so door clearances survive on the concrete ground floors that came with the nineteen-sixties expansion, and it wipes clean.
Shop rangeLaminate makes sense where a social landlord is fitting out a home in Glascote or Amington and wants a floor that is inexpensive to replace.
Shop rangeTamworth is B77, B78 and B79 — Castle, Bolehall, Belgrave, Amington, Dordon, and out to Baddesley and Grendon. It is a district of Staffordshire, and like Redditch it shares the B postcode with Birmingham while belonging to a different county entirely. Ownership was 67.0% at the 2021 census with social renting at 18.0%. Tamworth expanded substantially under a town development agreement from the 1960s, taking overspill population from Birmingham, so much of the housing is of that period and sits on a concrete ground floor. The medieval core around the castle is the exception. Which side of that divide your property falls on decides whether you are checking a membrane or levelling boards.
At the 2021 census, 13.0% of households in Tamworth lived in a flat, maisonette or apartment and 86.6% in a house or bungalow — 21.4% of all households in a terraced house.
