Ground floors on the development-era estates

Tamworth expanded under a town development agreement that took overspill population from Birmingham, and much of the housing that came from it stands on a concrete ground floor. Check the membrane before anything goes down; over a slab still holding damp, SPC wants a barrier beneath it.

The old core by the castle

Around the castle the stock predates all of that and stands on boards instead of a slab, which turns the job back into levelling. Laid over a levelled timber floor, engineered oak moves with the joists rather than bridging them and drumming.

Semi-detached living rooms

The semi-detached house is the commonest type in Tamworth by a clear margin, and in a semi the living room shares a wall with the neighbours. A dense underlay beneath laminate or engineered wood keeps footfall from travelling through that wall.

It is a district of Staffordshire, and like Redditch it shares the B postcode with Birmingham while belonging to a different county entirely.
