Product details

Ascot Golden Oak is the honeyed board of the Ascot range: engineered European oak, 14 mm thick, 125 mm wide in random lengths from 300 mm to 1200 mm, Classic grade, brushed and matt lacquered, with a 3 mm wear layer.

Read the full description

Classic grade keeps the surface calmer than the Rustic Ascot boards, with smaller knots and less colour variation, so the golden tone reads even across the floor.

A matt lacquer on a brushed board is the low-maintenance surface: it wipes clean, resists abrasion better than an oil, and the brushing keeps it from showing every scratch. It is refinished as a whole floor when the time comes rather than patched. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, listed as compatible with underfloor heating; a box covers 1.8 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.

Golden oak warms a north-facing room and pairs with most schemes, which is why it dates less than the fashion tones either side of it. The Weybridge Golden Wheat Oak is the same tone and surface at 190 mm wide; the Victorian Antique Golden Brown Oak is the deep brushed, oiled version at 220 mm.

Specification, in plain words

Questions about this floor

Can Ascot Golden Oak Wood Flooring 14 x 125 be used with underfloor heating?
Yes — the specification for this floor records underfloor heating as Compatible. Check the maximum surface temperature your system runs at before ordering, and follow the manufacturer's commissioning sequence for the first heating cycle.
What size are the boards?
Each board or tile measures 14mm x 125mm x 300-1200mm. The edge detail is Micro-bevelled, which is what you see where two boards meet. Measure the room and add a waste allowance before ordering — your fitter will give you the figure for your room shape.
How long will the surface last?
The wear layer on this floor is 3mm. On a timber floor that figure decides how many times it can be sanded back and refinished; on a vinyl floor it is the clear film over the printed design and decides how long the pattern survives traffic. It is the number worth comparing between ranges.
How much does one box cover?
One box covers 1.8 Square Metres. Work out your room area first, then add the waste allowance, and order in whole boxes — a part box cannot be ordered and a short delivery stops a fit.
What warranty does it carry?
This floor carries a 15 Years. A warranty rests on the floor being laid and looked after as the manufacturer specifies, so keep the fitting notes and the subfloor readings with your paperwork.
Can I see it before I order?
Order a cut sample for £1.99 and look at it in the room it is for, at the hour you actually use that room. Grain and tone shift under artificial light, and no photograph carries that.
