Browse CollectionsEngineered wood flooring gives you the authentic look and feel of solid timber with far greater stability. A real-oak top layer is bonded to a multi-ply core that resists the seasonal movement which affects solid wood, so it stays flat, performs beautifully over underfloor heating and lasts for decades.
A slab is flat and quiet, which flatters click-fit floors: LVT Vinyl Click-Lock lies thin over it and takes an acoustic underlay well, worth having in a G74 or G75 flat, where the title deeds should be checked for a condition on impact sound.
It works in almost every room, handles the wear of family life, and comes in a huge choice of tones and finishes, from natural matt oak to smoked, brushed and oiled boards. Ground contact keeps a Greenhills slab within a narrow band all year, so the covering over it is barely moved by heat. What opens and closes its joints in G75 is humidity, which living in the room raises more than the heating does.
Designated Scotland’s first new town, East Kilbride was largely built after the war, and that shows underfoot: across G74 and G75, from Central North and South out towards Avondale and Stonehouse, the ground floor is far more often a concrete slab than timber joists over a void. Against that backdrop, engineered wood flooring is the natural fit for living rooms, hallways, dining rooms and bedrooms.
From the orders we deliver across East Kilbride, this is where each floor tends to go:
Living rooms in Calderwood and Stewartfield: Because so much of the town was raised to one programme, the house next door is generally built the way this one is, and a specification that works travels well. Over a dry slab, engineered oak floats on an insulating underlay with nothing unexpected below.
Ground floors across G74 and G75: As the first new town in Scotland, East Kilbride was built almost wholly in one programme, and the ground floor is concrete rather than joists in nearly every house. Levelling in the old sense does not arise; a slab wants a moisture reading and a flat face before SPC.
What the title deeds say about a flat: In an East Kilbride flat it is the deeds rather than the neighbour that decide what may go down. Read them before ordering, because a condition on impact sound can rule out laminate dropped onto bare slab and leave LVT over an acoustic mat as the way through.
Kitchens on an unheated slab: Concrete with no heating in it stays cold, and a kitchen is where that gets noticed, because it is the room people stand still in. Porcelain tiles take the wear but hold that chill; SPC over an insulating underlay is warmer on exactly the same base.
Engineered Oak Wide Plank · Engineered oak lies over a concrete slab without the seasonal movement solid timber shows, which suits post-war stock built on the ground rather than above a ventilated void.
