Smoking takes the grey into the wood, so the colour reads darker and more even than the washed greys, and the Classic grade keeps it consistent.

A brushed matt lacquer on a grey board wipes clean, hides fine scratches in its texture and avoids the sheen that makes dust show. It is refinished as a whole floor when the film has worn rather than oiled locally. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, listed as compatible with underfloor heating; each box covers 1.44 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.

Look at the sample in daylight and under the room's bulbs: grey shifts most with the light.
