Product details

Cobham Invisible Oiled Oak is finished with an oil formulated not to add the amber tone a conventional oil gives, so the board keeps the pale, dry colour of freshly sanded oak: engineered European oak, 14 mm thick, 150 mm wide in random lengths from 300 mm to 1200 mm, Rustic grade, brushed, with a 3 mm wear layer.

Read the full description

It is the lighter of the two Cobham light oak boards and the one with more knots and colour play.

Invisible oil is maintained like any oil, locally and with the manufacturer's own maintenance oil for the same finish; a conventional oil on a worn patch would darken it. The brushed surface hides the dark marks a pale floor otherwise shows. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, listed as compatible with underfloor heating; a box covers 1.44 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.

It suits Scandinavian schemes, small rooms that need light, and cottages where the Rustic grade looks right. The Cobham Light Oak board is the calmer, Classic grade version with an invisible lacquer; for the pale tone with a white pigment, the Weybridge White Oiled Oak.

Specification, in plain words

Questions about this floor

Can Cobham Invisible Oiled Oak Wood Floor 14 x 150 be used with underfloor heating?
Yes — the specification for this floor records underfloor heating as Compatible. Check the maximum surface temperature your system runs at before ordering, and follow the manufacturer's commissioning sequence for the first heating cycle.
What size are the boards?
Each board or tile measures 14mm x 150mm x 300-1200mm. The edge detail is Micro-bevelled, which is what you see where two boards meet. Measure the room and add a waste allowance before ordering — your fitter will give you the figure for your room shape.
How long will the surface last?
The wear layer on this floor is 3mm. On a timber floor that figure decides how many times it can be sanded back and refinished; on a vinyl floor it is the clear film over the printed design and decides how long the pattern survives traffic. It is the number worth comparing between ranges.
How much does one box cover?
One box covers 1.44 Square Metres. Work out your room area first, then add the waste allowance, and order in whole boxes — a part box cannot be ordered and a short delivery stops a fit.
What warranty does it carry?
This floor carries a 15 Years. A warranty rests on the floor being laid and looked after as the manufacturer specifies, so keep the fitting notes and the subfloor readings with your paperwork.
Can I see it before I order?
Order a cut sample for £1.99 and look at it in the room it is for, at the hour you actually use that room. Grain and tone shift under artificial light, and no photograph carries that.
