The pigment settles into the grain so the figure shows as fine pale lines, and the smooth surface makes it the cleanest of the pale herringbones.

A white oiled floor is maintained with the manufacturer's white maintenance oil, not a clear one, which would darken the patch it touched; worn blocks are re-oiled on their own. A smooth pale surface shows dark marks, so it suits living rooms with felt pads under the furniture. Tongue and groove, micro-bevelled, listed as compatible with underfloor heating; a box of 16 blocks covers 1.2 square metres, and the manufacturer's warranty is 15 years.
