Both are settled before a board is chosen, not after.

In the Old Town, Leith and Inverleith conservation areas, and in any listed tenement, the original boarding is protected; a floor laid over it keeps it in place and keeps the consent question closed. The wear layer on top is oak enough to sand back once.
