8mm Laminate Unye is the palest board in the laminate range, listed under both the greys and the whites: an 8 mm HDF board, 193 mm by 1204 mm, click-fitted, micro-bevelled, rated AC4. It is the laminate for a small, dark room that needs a light floor, or a Scandinavian scheme with white walls.

AC4 is the abrasion rating for busy domestic use, so the pale surface is not a fragile one: it is wiped with a damp mop, and small marks are hidden by the pattern more than a plain white floor would hide them. The board floats over an underlay on a flat, dry subfloor with an expansion gap, and is listed as compatible with underfloor heating. A box holds 10 boards and covers 2.32 square metres; manufacturer's warranty 25 years.

Not for a bathroom or a laundry room, where laminate joints take water; the BML Herringbone American White Oak rigid vinyl block is the white floor for those. The 8mm Laminate Vivo and 8mm Laminate Rio are the next greys down in the same format.
