Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about natural oak engineered wood.

Yes. Engineered oak is generally well suited to underfloor heating thanks to its layered construction, which provides better dimensional stability than solid wood. Always check the specific product data sheet for maximum surface temperature limits — most products work comfortably up to 27°C. You can order samples from any product page to see the finish before committing.

Engineered oak has a real oak wear layer bonded over a plywood or HDF core, giving it better moisture resistance and stability in centrally heated homes. Solid oak is a single piece of timber — it can be sanded more times over its lifetime but is more sensitive to humidity changes. For most homes, engineered oak offers the best balance of appearance and practical performance.

Regular sweeping or vacuuming with occasional damp mopping using a wood-safe cleaner. Oiled finishes benefit from re-oiling every 1–2 years depending on traffic levels. Lacquered finishes are lower maintenance — a clean and dry routine is typically all they need.

Yes — and we strongly recommend it. Samples can be ordered from any product page on our site, so you can see the real colour, grain and texture in your own lighting before you commit. It is the easiest way to be completely sure of your choice.
